BANKRUPTCY & ITS ALTERNATIVES

We have represented over 4,000 individuals, corporations and other entities in Chapter 7, Chapter 11, Chapter 12, and Chapter 13 bankruptcies. Our staff is qualified and experienced in the electronic filing systems of all the downstate bankruptcy courts. However, we also counsel troubled clients on alternatives to bankruptcy.

Our perspective on bankruptcy is not limited to debtor practice. We frequently represent creditors in bankruptcy cases. For example, for one bank client we recently thwarted a debtor’s attempt to obtain a bankruptcy discharge through massive fraud. See In re Diekemper, 2007 WL 3216626 (Bankr. S.D. Ill. 2007). We also regularly represent secured creditors in obtaining relief from the automatic stay, and other creditors in filing proofs of claim and monitoring the progress of bankruptcy cases involving their customers. We also represent bankruptcy trustees in complex matters where they require outside counsel. In fact, managing partner Terry Sharp was himself a trustee while attending law school.
